Default Where is the cat on a d16y7?

Is the cat right at the end of the exhaust manifold on a d series motor. Thats what it looks like anyway. Its a big round deal that is bolted directly to the manifold and then the exhaust piping comes out of it. ?

So there is no cat at all? I didnt realize that. How does it pass inspection then. I thought most states required a catty to pass.

u have to get an ex cat or any other cat and get it attached past the downpipe, then get your catback cut and shortened hten welded to the back of the cat, definitely tkae it to an exhaust shop

DX cat sucks. It's called a pre-cat and it's built into the manifold. What you can do if you want a header and exhaust is buy an EX header, cat, and EX catback exhaust system and it'll all fit together perfectly but you will have to extend the secondary o2 sensor wires and possibly the primary sensor wires depending on where the primary o2 bung is located on the header. It SHOULD be underneath by the colletor, before the cat, but some shitty headers have them higher up on one of the runners.

primary sensor goes before the cat
secondary sensor goes after the cat.

easy as pie!
