Whats up!! SMIC Material?... Pics of my babe Aria

First off, Hey, whats up guys and gals... im a noob here, i've been sneaking around the site for a couple years now, as a guest and a user, but never got around to starting my own HMT kit. The time has come thought, I will be tracking everthing and keeping peeps posted here with plenty of pics.

Second... Im going to be welding 2.5'' inlet and outlets on a dsm side mount, what material are dsm side mounts? 6061 Aluminum?

-Thanks

DSm side mounts are aluminum, but what is IC goin on? What kind of power are you trying to make? You should take into consideration that even a stock Dsm can heat soak one of these rather quickly on a summer day. Not saying its a bad cooler to use, but if your going to all the trouble to tig 2.5" outlets, you might want to consider other options as well. I.E. MKIV supra side mount, srt4 front mount, mk3 supra front mount, etc.

Post some porn damn it. :6

Its going on a single v, shooting for 200 hp for starters. Basically doing it for a little better flow and to spend less on couplers by not having to buy reduced couplers. The welding is going to be of no charge so i dont think it will hurt heck it will even be better for my wallet and flow... Sound good?

-Thanks

I'll have to learn to post porn... lol

DSM side mount will FLOW plenty enough to make 200hp, but like I said, if your sittin in traffic on a hot summer day (pending location) your gonna heat soak it real quick.

Heatsoaked IC = high intake temps= detonation (@ some point) What SOHC engine are you running???

I will be running it with a z6, I was thinking about heat soaking so i thought of just getting a puller fan for when i am in those situations as you explain. I'm in texas so yes those situations will arise... :6

The saab blackstone smic's are pretty nice smaller bar plate intercoolers. They make one with plastic endtanks and Aluminium also. So since you have access to someone who can tig AL then I get one of those and make new tanks.

Hey I have one of those saab intercoolers. I didn't think they were bar and plate.

Sorry bro. Those are indeed bar plate. Saab has a couple of nicer fmic but those are just tube fin style.

Yeah, arn't some of the saab FMICs kind of thin anyways? I know volvo makes a few FMICs that are only like 1" thick but are really large.

That rules that the saab side mount is bar plate. I'm going to bust out the welder and make some nicer endtanks. :6

+1 I used a saab sm on my last dsm (until I shot a hole thru it with my .38 :1) Good IC though.
