whats everyones fuel consumption like? got some brutal milage goin on

hey all,

just a quick question. My turbo DA6 is a brutal pig on gas, and was wondering if something is up with my setup or if its normal

ive got 440cc injectors, FP set to 38psi and running 12psi.

on 94 octance, i get about 200km to a tank of gas. Seems really piss poor if you ask me.

I did notice my O2 sensor was pooched so ive gone ahead and replaced it, but was wondering how everyone elses fuel comsumption is like.

Mine has been sucking ass lately, but I have been beating the ---- out of it on a very regular basis. I'm gonna fill up today and see how the next tank goes.

What are you using to control the injectors?

If I drive normal and not like an ------- I get basically the same mileage as when I was NA

injectors are being controlled by a TE PM6

30/35 City/Highway with no full boost pulls. Beating on it hard I will get 25 mpg average.

I think you got a problem. My fuel economy is damn good. I got 372 mi. my last tank in my 90' hatch with a boosted mpfi d15b2 with 450 cc inj. This was about 90% highway with a few boosted pulls. ;D I was amazed. I was also getting about 35 mpg highway with my built boosted d16a6. Seems like you really need to tune the part throttle portion of your map and lay off the gas.

Re:whats everyones fuel consumption like? got some brutal milage goin on

funny thing is im generally not on it all the time. most of the driving is just that. Part throttle, casual driving. the only time i get on it is if someone wants to go at a highway battle or something, but other than that im generally too tired to bhe speeding.

ill throw a new O2 sensor in and play with the part throttle fuel map and go from there.

thx guys.

ill post up my fuel map to get some advice to get half decent milage

I get 27-32 mpg highway with my Turbo DA6 on TE. Thats actually better than I was getting on the stock ECU unbosted...

Remember your idle can be in the 15-16 range and low load vacuum areas can be in the 15.0 - 15.2 range where most of your driving occurs. This will help fuel comsumption greatly.

I get a shitty idle if I try to lean out the idle that far for some reason. I was logging with stock injectors and a stock ECU to watch where the A/F was and it seemed to shoot for a 14.2 all the time. Although that was with a P05 ECU and a DX 16 valve topend. :-\

I fixed my 2000rpm erratic idle by hooking the PCV back up. ::) I guess I forgot to do that when I did the last head gasket. :-[

you could try seafoam to clean out all the carbon, friend did it on his accord and picked up 5-8 mpg more. ive never done it on a turbo car tho

yah i was just going to say that ...... 125 miles to a tank, WOW. you must be super rich in your part throttle maps. or have a whole somehwere in your fuel lines,tank,etc.....

Re: whats everyones fuel consumption like? got some brutal milage goin on

I'm getting awful mileage with my N/A B16 right now, no clue why. At first it had to be because my O2 sensors weren't hooked up properly (reversed) but even after getting them hooked up correctly I'm only getting 20-25 MPG in town and probably worse on the highway because I'm revving at about 4k at 70mph.

check for injector leaks. I've had two cars in the last week come in with one or more leaky injector seals.

Holy crap. I was about to brag on my 28mpg highway on my KA24DET. I calculated it during a 350mile ~90mph drive. The ECU seems to ignore the O2 after about 75mph in 5th gear so I tuned that spot to about 14.4:1

Re: whats everyones fuel consumption like? got some brutal milage goin on

get your ---- tuned and you'll get great gas mileage. i have my idle sitting at around 16.5 a/f, part throttle light load at about 15.5 and get 35+ mpg with my stock b16. i'm averaging almost 5 more miles to the gallon than with stock ecu. when i was boosted, i was a little richer in part throttle, mainly for tip in to boost b/c i was running closed loop on the ecu and would go in to boost sometimes at part throttle before the ecu would kick in to open loop, but even then i was getting 27-30+ mpg. it's all in the tuning.

Re: whats everyones fuel consumption like? got some brutal milage goin on

you need to hook the o2 sensor up or tune your part throttle portion of the map otherwise your mpg will be shitty.
