What would u do?
Hi I have a 1991 honda crx si (d16a6) with 126,000 stock miles that I use as a work vechile. My job requires me to do a lot of driving so I want to build a turbo setup that will be very reliable and will not require me to change any interal parts. I also would like a turbo that will spool fast but not fall off at top end. My goal for the engine is 200-250 hp.my budget is around $1,500 give or take. I would like to tune the car my self on my carputer that im almost finished building. I got a 8" touch screen going into the dash so I want to be able to display all my read outs in real time. My uncle has been welding for most of his life and is willing to make me an exhuast manifold and intercooler pipes.
My question is what would be the best design to go off of when making the exhuast manifold and how could I make my hp goal with my budget? Also I was wondering if anyone has a good turbo for sale that would spool fast on the stock d16a6? Its really hard to find a good turbo in any salvage yard here in minnesota. |
Re: What would u do?
HF manifold with an adapter plate per your budget. You can make 200 whp easily with the right parts.
.48/.42 T3 commonly found on Saabs Buy 4 U-bends to make some charge piping and downpipe Oil lines, a fool proof kit is at www.--------------------------- Chip your ecu or have it chipped by Chris at www.------------- DSM 450cc injectors 1G DSM BOV a few other things I can't think of, that's the jist of it. The carputer will be very nice for tuning. |
Re: What would u do?
Just make sure you get a good tuen if you want to make it a daily driver, and make sure you get a restircotr oil kit or say buy buy to turbo seals

Re: What would u do?
thanks for the tips...I also drive a 1990 k5 blazer which Ill be driving for a few weeks when im working on the turbo project so I will have time to tune the car right. I was thinking about using an HF mani but I would like to keep my a/c because of all the driving I do. And my uncle can weld just about anything so I was thinking maybe a ram horn mani or a topmount. Whats the best type of manifold for performance?
