What would smoke a turbo in less then 300 miles?

First heres a rundown on the setup.

230ci Inline 6 3.7L
Stock Longblock
2bbl Intake w/ 500 cfm Holley
Stock exhaust manifold w/ a 2in outlet.
2" up pipe to a 2.5" turbo inlet
Turbo has a 2" outlet that went into a 3" downpipe

The Turbo is off of a Hot Air Buick Riveria T-Type 3.8L
.60 Compressor Housing
.82 Turbine Housing
The turbo was never boosted over 7psi
Always saw it least 15psi of oil @ idle and 20-25psi @ WOT
The car did not make boost till 2800rpm and highway cruises @ 2450

The feed line is a -3an and the drain is 1/2" line.

So is the turbo just to small? Uppipe too small? Possibly a issue with heat soaking in on shutdown? Enough oil pressure but not enough volume?

???

You need to fix that door on your nova, the color doesn't match. :1

your a retard. he is asking a serious question.

that turbo seems a little small to me, but i don think thats the problem. is it an old turbo, has it been rebuilt recently. it sounds to me like it was just that turbos time to go. how is your oil return? is it a good straight shot to the oil pan and above the oil level?

i'd agree with phil, sounds like it was just old?

did you install a restrictor in the oil line to the turbo? did the stock application have one? turbos (cept bb ones) have journal bearings just like the engine, and for the most part are designed to handle full engine pressure.

as for pressure and flow.

pressure is a function of flow vs resistance. i'd say if you have that pressure at the turbo (not in the engine) then it would not cause a problem.

something that hasnt been mentioned is petrol wash out, if its a draw through non intercooled setup, then the petrol may have helped damage the seals.

assuming big daddys not right about the origin of the unit. if he is, that explains it nicely :-)

Its a GM turbo that was rebuilt by a shop in Florida before I got it. It was tight when I installed it. Its not Ching Chow Meow.... I have a 1/2in drain that flows @ a 70deg angle back into the pan above the oil line. The pressure at the line is the same as the pressure in the motor, remember its a wore out 80,000 mile motor. It is a blow through setup also.

If boost (or just too much blow by) finds it's way into the crack case, that pressure is the same at the oil drain. So it would try to push the oil back up the drain.
Or the turbo had a problem after the rebuild.

The bluing shows possibly it got starved for oil at some point?
