What turbo to make 250hp on daily LS?
I am going to turbo my LS and have been searching and reading quite a bit for the right turbo to use but am stumped. I was told this was the place to ask about home brewed turbo setups and was hoping those with some experience would lend some advice.
I would like to make around 250hp on a stock LS.
This is my daily driver so I dont want some laggy turbo that is only good for the strip, i dont want to start spooling at like 4500rpm
Also avaliability and cost are a factor. would like to spend under $300 and preferably internaly gated. Was thinking maybe going with an Eclipse turbo. I have a T-25 off of an SR20DET but have been told this is on the small size and will run out of steam before 7K
What do you suggest?
Thanks!!

Re: What turbo to make 250hp on daily LS?
you might find this too laggy, but i am using the t3/t4 57 trim with .63 exhaust a/r. i start spooling at around 3k, and hit 10 psi at between 4200-4700 depending on outside air temp and stuff like that. this turbo pulls like a bastard above 5k. see if you can find a 50 trim t3/t4, but with a .48 exhaust a/r. should spool up a few hundred rpms quicker than mine, and not come close to running out of steam. if you use a smaller turbo and want about 250whp, you will probably have to run 12-15 psi. i hit 250 at 11 psi

i'd reccomend going with a .48/60 or .63/60 depending on if you want right now boost that will cost you a little up top or have almost right now boost and pull alot better up top. they flow 34lb/min and have the potential of making around 300hp. but still very streetable. and going with a garrett open a almost endless option of turbo's to upgrade to.

I just dont want to pick a turbo and have people be like damn you got ripped off you should have just looked for a used one on ebay or bought it from XXXXXX shop.

garrett 60/63 or 60/48's can be found on ford 2.3L turbocharged engines from 83-86 in thunderbird turbocoups, merkur xr4ti's, Mustang gt turbos, mustang svo's, and capri RS turbos. you can also find t3 60trim's in older nissan 280z and 300z's. I have a .60/.63 in good condition if interested.

Re: What turbo to make 250hp on daily LS?
Already read both those thanks,
The first one is basicly no help, I know all the parts that it takes to turbo a car. I have owned RX-7s and a 240 with an SR20 swap in the past, im not retarded. This is my first honda and I was asking peoples oppnions on a turbo for a daily driven LS...........yes I have searched.........and read those too
The second one is great and very informative except for the fact that I utterly suck at math.
