what to turbo: LS or B16A?

k, i know i have asked this before on the resource (i think?). anyway yes i am still debating, been talking to people.
some say B18 turbo, more displacement, lower compression, can run more boost, no VTEC valve over lap, etc...
others say the B16A turbo, its got VTEC, there faster to start out with, like to be rev'ed high, its got VTEC (they always say it twice ::))...

whats your opinion/thoughts? dont say LSVTEC, thats an option but not at present time (ie: aint got the money!). the LS will probly be a little cheaper than the B16...

VTEC wouldscream under boost :)

havent had either motors but VTEC is always good for resale

would you buy a B16 that has been boosted on for the past year?

i was under the impression that a turbo quiets vtec down since the turbo is blocking the noise...and an ls has a great c/r for turbo

My thought, either one will be fine Dustin, they both have different characteristics. I personally thought beau's car pulled very well for his B16a Turbo, My thoughts on a LS, is going to be a spicier version of a ZC. But room for improvement in the aftermarket scene, and the option for a LS/Vtec down the road. The b16a is a ------- reving engine, loves to see the RPMS.. Lots of potential in either.

yeah with all the charge pipes and turbocharger, i don't think you could hear it engage very well if at all. i've never heard anyone have problems with turbocharging vtec engines, but i guess if you have such an agressive cam in there, you could lose compression and boost going out of the valves cause they won't close all the way or something

i think there is a little overlap where all the valves are open just a bit thats good for na but not too great for turbo...not sure though

12's are within reach with a LS or B16 right?

people always say the B16 is gutless cuz it has no torque, is that a problem that anyone here has encountered? i do lots of city driving, but will definately be hitting the track all i can (might even auto-x)...

no VTEC valve over lap
Come'on Dustin, you know better than that. The boost/overlap thing is a myth. ;)

If you boost high enough, yes 12's are very reachable... Overlap? thats what cam gears are for... ;)

And yes you guys, you still can feel vtec engauge, can you hear it? depending on your exhaust yes, you can. I can hear mine engauge all the time.
