Hey guys I picked up this turbo and manifold from a local guy, he said it was a 1g dsm turbo thats all he knew at the time,

Im having trouble finding out which one it is, i know its a garrett turbo, but other then that im lost on this one.

I wanna bolt it up to a greddy t25 d-series manifold, what would i need to do so, the bolts patterns dont match up right.

Also Im guessing its water and oil cooled, if so how would i run water cooling lines for the turbo? do i have to run water lines?

And for the life of me i cant get the thing apart, the way the bolts are it hit the center housing every which way i try to turn it...

Anyways heres some pics, and any help would be great guys thanks!

Clean the off the tag on the CHRA and there will be a number you can search for on Garrett's site or at the very least email their service department and they can tell you.

You have to run both water and oil lines. It is oil lubricated, water cooled, so if you only run oil lines, your turbo has no way to cool itself. You can just run it off your throttle body lines.

Dunno about the flange though.

Center Housing Rotating Assembly, The middle part. You can see the tag in this picture. Just wipe it off with a rag to read the numbers. For instance the tag on my GT30 read 700177-5023 (I still have the tag, but not the turbo) and I can look that up on Garrett's site to see the specs.

TB water lines should be the two on the bottom of the TB coming from your water pipe. Just divert and run longer lines to put the turbo in the loop.

TB===engine

TB==turbo==engine

ok i got the numbers ill look it up on garret website, and on the water lines for the turbo does it matter what the inlet and outlet would be? im guessing not

speedfoos 02-09-2010 10:13 AM

Not really. Since the water lines will be at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions on the CHRA it doesn't matter which is which. The water pump will figure it out.

ok i got the part number 466491-3003A but i cant find it anywhere on garretts website, any ideas?

That's a DSM turbo from a 2.0L Eclipse and is either a T25 or a T28. I would put my money on it being a T25. The T28 has a 1.900 inch diameter inducer and a 2.367 exducer. If you could take off the compressor housing and measure the blades, that would work well. Hope this helps.

Are there any other numbers on the tag? Can you take a close-up shot?

yea the numbers/letters on the tag are

YB1980J
MR187909
466491-3003A

And i tried getting both damn housings of the chra, but i cant get the bolts all the way out you can see in the pics

you have to knock the exhaust housing loose off the center so you can get the bolts out
