What is the turbo doing?

Ok, i just built my first turbo kit on a D15b7. T3 super 60 and about 4-6 psi. Well, i'm trying to learn as much as i can about turbos, so here goes. I was running home and i cranked the boost up to around 5 psi or so. I have a FMU and that ain't the best managment, but i need to start somewhere. When i was getting around 4,000 rpm i could feel the car hesitate like it didn't want to go. What could it be? I have no O2 sensor because i didn't put one in yet, so i really want to know. I think it may be not enough fuel pressure. I running stock injectors and bottom line stuff. Also i have a valve on top of my FMU where the vac line goes that screws in and out, what is this for. Thanks!

Jesus, I hope you're kidding. First off, you need an o2 sensor. Second, you need to properly instal your shitty ass FMU before you fry your pistons, if you haven't already.

What FMU do you have?

I plan on putting an O2 sensor in tommorow, when my friend makes my exhaust. Hey, i'm trying to learn as much as i can, teach me all you can people to properly run what i have for now.

Ok, i hooked it up the way it should, I have both lines and thr vac. hooked up, but it doesn't say anything about a valve by the vac. line. What is that for, does anyone know?

great site, i used this site for my turbo kit install. Guys i have the basics down, i set my turbo kit up correctly, i'm just trying to learn some tuning basics and why turbos do the things they do when they cause your engine to act funny.

You missed the part where you were supposed to hook the vac line to the FMU, which is a fatal mistake.

I wasn't aware that Vortech had an adjustable FMU, but if they do that knob is to adjust the ratio. You should take a look at your plugs after it bogs/cuts out. I bet they are super white and dry. Your pistons hate you.

Yup, thats how they work. If there is no vacuum line hooked between the manifold and the FMU, it will not be jacking you fuel pressure up under boost.

Yeah, but we like picking on noobies. ;) >:D

Sorry if it seems like I'm flaming you. It just seems like you didn't do much research on your parts. Did you find the problem?

why is your kit on your car already when you are asking questions like this??

you should have known all this info prior to installing the turbo on your car, ???

I'm thinking the same thing. Maybe Im the only who care about my car enough to do some extensive researching before doing anything, even though that was awhile back.

do you have check valves? if ur map sensor is seeing boost it will bog n ---- when it see's boost.

Re: What is the turbo doing?

Yeah, i did as much research as i can and did it for about a year. But sometimes you slip through the cracks and miss this and that once and awhile. I've narrowed it down to a sensor probelm, i have no missing link, cause some 1 told me that hondas MAP sensors can handle up to 10psi. I shouldn't have listened. Maybe O2 sensor or IAC valve. Right now my car bogs alittle, i also played with those plugs on the back of the intake manifold. They have three connectors that all have the same connector. Does anyone know what plug goes where out of those three?

Re: What is the turbo doing?

the stock MAP sensor can handle 10 psi, but not with an unchipped ecu. your stock one will throw a code when it sees boost.

Re: What is the turbo doing?

Ok gotcha, how much boost makes a stock MAP send up a light? Very little i guess. Um, right now i have this idling problem too, when i'm below a certain rpm and normal temp, my car does this idle, bog kind of thing. Any idea?

1-2 psi
