what turbo is this?

ok im looking for a turbo to finish my project civic. (built dohc zc with a 8:1 c/r) https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...?topic=94994.0

so far everything i have found (that is in my broke ass price range) is a ching chong built snail :3

so i have been looking and i have found a turbo that seems to be a good priced turbo (seller claims turbo is rebuilt with 0 miles) but he cant give me much help when it comes to the info/specs on the turbo. With the info the guy has given me i have been serching all over but i cant find the turbo (with his info) i even searched the garrett website and their catalogs (both of them), please help me find out about this turbo ( so i can finish my car!!)

those are the pics he sent me and here is all the info he has given me too:

-C/N 5003636
-P/N 466672-9002
-S/N ZMR1738W

-down pipe is a stand T3 flange with 5 bolts.

-It is a Garrett T28 out of a Volvo

^^^^ thats all he has sent me (not much help to me) if anyone can make sense of that and help me, i would appreciate it (also turbo is under $200 does that sound like a good price for it?)

Re: what turbo is this?

It's most likely a T3 out of a Volvo. AFAIK Volvo only came with T3s and then switched to Mitsu turbos. That turbo is a good way to get 250-280 whp depending on the dyno, and I might be 5-15 whp conservative with that estimation.

You will have to swap or machine down (belt sander) the circular hole in the T3 flange to get it to work without leaking on anything but a Volvo manifold.

If he says the turbo's been rebuilt he needs to cough up a receipt; I don't see many people putting bearing kits into their own turbos and the turbos lasting very long after. The unit looks clean, but meh.

It's water cooled, that's a plus...But yeah, I'd want to make sure it was PROFESSIONALLY rebuilt and balanced.

JD(and any1 else who wants to chime in) since you have been keeping up with my setup/goals (and know my situation)...do you think this turbo would be a wise choice for my setup (could ths power a low c/r car on the street..... and not make me wanna blow it up?)

"circular hole in the T3 flange " im sorry but could you elaborate on that? (is it the flange that would "mate" with an adapter flange?) and what about the machining? by any chance do you mean to port match to flange/manifold?..... and thanks for the advise about asking for the receipt, i will do that.

also what would the w.g. be set to ? 7psi?

this is the flange for the volvo t3 inlet flange.

it'll be 6-8psi.

Re: what turbo is this?

if your 'dsm bluetop injectors' are not light blue with a long green pintle, then that turbo will be good, but 10 lbs is your friend.

i dont remember the shade of blue (car has been garaged for the last year) but they are the legit blue tops (440cc's) but why would my injectors matter(besides there normal purpose/reason) about how that turbo will do with my low c/r?

im worried that the turbo might take a lil too long to spool for my set up (craig from tunertoys said i should look into somethin with a t2 flange, so it will help with the low c/r)

prove that they are legit bluetops for your sanity, if they do not say '450' on the side, they are not 450.
