my friend just got this turbo for free. its supposedly off a 1st gen eclipse. how can you tell if it actually was or not

yeah it looks like a DSM turbo forsure...

 

is it the 14b or 16g

 

i dont know dsm turbos but i think thats a 14b

 

It's a 13g. See that TD04? 14b and 16g are TD05H. It's smaller than a 14b and flows less. It's better than a T25 though, but honestly not by much as the TD04 turbine wheel is on the small side. It would be fine for a D-series though.

 

Also check out the flapper area, it's cracked like a ----------er. It'll leak with cracks that big. It kinda looks like one of the blades of the turbine wheel has a chip out of it too. They go for about $60 on Ebay in good shape. In that condition probably $40 shipped. Probably best to junk it.

 

And yes, it's off a 1st generation Eclipse, but the automatic transmission variants. The inlet on them is so small haha. Dumbass Mitsu.

 

Weld the cracks shut, grind them flush, bolt the ****** onto a D16 and run the ---- out of it.

Or just weld the flapper shut and use an external wastegate.

 

Weld the turbine wheel too? Haha you could be like that baller on the MX-6 forums bwaaha.
