Default what tranny to use?

okay i have a zc in my car and i have most of the pieces to turbo it. i just have to start working on getting my tranny in gear. i have a new clutch and im working on a new flywheel. right now i just have a dx tranny (the dude that i bought the zc swap told me it was an si...i got hosed its a dx) anyways im wondering if i should keep it when boosting or should i scrap it and get an si trnany like i was intending to do in the first place. i was reading the 1/4 mile times post and see that the si tranny's kick ***. but for boost would it be better to have the si final drive? (since the gears are the same the only diff. is the final drive)

Isn't there an actual ZC tranny out there with equal length axles? I'm pretty sure there was.

I hated my DX gearing until I boosted. They were way too long and 5th gear was almost useless. Now I can't shift out of 1st fast enough. I would just abuse the hell out of the DX tranny for now and replace it with maybe an Si later if you feel you need to. I don't think you will be dissapointed with the DX gearing on a F/I application.

Dx tranny blows *** for boost... trust me, this whole myth of longer gears for turbos doesnt play a factor for 10 seconds or slower cars. Lots of guys with B-series runs Gsr trannys, and Type R trannys for 1/4 miles why? tight *** gearing. Nobody wants to be falling out of the power band each time you shift..

So! I would say a SI tranny or ZC tranny.... or even the ZC w/ Si final

My dx tranny ripps ****.. ill see how it deals under boost.. after that ima either try to find a si tranny or get a zc tranny with the 90-93 teggy axels.

I guess its cause I haven't ran mine at the track. It seems good for street use. I'll have to take your word on it being faster in the quarter. At about 120 mph my tach reads about 5000.
