mobil 1 synthetic 10w-40w is the one i use. for a turbo you need an oil that withstands very high temps without breaking down, or thinning out. synthetics resist way more heat then regular oils. also, regular oil tends to coke or dry out leaving a hard film of oil in your turbo and over time it'll reduce your oil pages alot and allow less or no oil in the turbo. synthetic oil won't coke at all if you run your car off boost for 3-5 minutes before you park it.
just stay off the boost and at a slow speed barely pressing the accelerator 5-10 minutes before parking the car.

wouldn't you jsut have to change your oil more often (ie 2500mi w/ reg. oil vs. 3000mi w/ syn.)? and wouldn't turbo timing your car with reg. oil be just as beneficial?

synthetic oil is good for the turbo, but not good for the turbo'd engine, does not transfer heat very well. oil temps usually run 10-20 degees hotter with syn. it will never be in one of my engines. a good turbo timer and oil changes every 2000 miles on a turbo car is all you need. i would rather replace my turbo than my engine cheapest oil i can find, 10w30.

I'm going turbo, but have been using 15w-40 synthetic previously. Will it do any harm to move to 10w-30? Also would it be ok to use 10w-40?
