what oil do you run?
 

My turbo is still leaking oil at the turbine.. so far i've made sure the drain was good.. checked for debris in the CHRA that could cause drain clogging.. made a 1/16th restrictor (.060")..

it doesn't burn oil at all when the car is cold.. no smoke at all when it's revved until full temp (200* F).. right now i'm running 5w30 and I think it's thinning out too much and seeping past the seals.. what do you guys think? FL weather probably doesn't help.

I found a 5w50 but it's $8 a quart.. that's RIDICULOUS! 20w50 is $2.98 but that's pretty hard on the bearings from a cold start, wouldn't you say?

Heavier oil will generally require more energy to shear, which creates heat and drag. But, many people (myself included) have run WAY heavier oil in ---- than the manufacturer recomends. It almost always runs just fine. Hell, its better than bleeding all over. I used to run 15w50 Mobile 1 diesel oil in my turbo Saturn. It loved that ---- like a sorority slut loves random cock. Keep an eye on water temp and oil pressure. If it goes through the roof, then cease and disist.

I know someone else will say it if I don't, but fix the real problem. Your ---- is leaking? Fix the leak or kill mosquitos. Your choice. Seals. All machines with oil lubrication (like turbos) have seals. Chances are your ---- needs 'em. It may have a cracked housing too. I've seen several turbos crack on the hot side. That's just a part of life. And no, you can't JB Weld the crack (at least that's what your mom said to me last night). Good luck, Gypsie.
