What to look for when buying a turbo *update*
A friend of mine has a td05h that he's going to sell me. I was wondering what else I need to check besides shaft play and cracks.

Re:What to look for when buying a turbo
Look for excessive amounts of oil caked on the turbine wheel, some is normal as long as its dry. If it's moist than you dont want it unless you plan to rebuild it, but then you that cost's you more money :-\

Re:What to look for when... *update*
I bought the turbo, everything looks good. I was wondering what to use when cleaning it out.
edit: could I used compressed air to blow dust and other particles out? |
Re:What to look for when buying a turbo *update*
I use carb or breake cleaner to clean my turbos, and there shouldn't be any dirt in the compressor housing, if you want to do a good job cleaning just pull the compressor cover off and lcean it all out from the inside that's what i do...

Re:What to look for when buying a turbo *update*
I'll try using some break cleaner, that should do the trick.
