I am recieving a turbonetics turbo for free from a volkswagon and it is huge and it looks to have a t-3 or t-4 flange and the backside of the compressor housing is orange? i will have pics tomorrow if no one can tell me by the description

Basically nothing you told us other than it's a turbonetics turbo matters. Pics will be necessary.

Here are the pics. Also the inlet is 4" the outlet is 2" and the exhaust inlet is a T4 flange and the exhaust outlet is 3" v-band

pull the numbers off of the turbine and compressor housing and reference it to the turbonetics catalog. youll know exactly what you have unless it has been internally upgraded

Not necessarily, the oil could have dripped onto the turbo from the engine it was on.

Re: What kind of turbo do i have?? NOW WITH PICS!!

The reason i got it for free is because the guy who owned the car it was on left it in a tow zone owned by the toyota dealership. well the toyota dealership took the car and they did not have a title or keys so they could not do anything with it it also had some busted windows. well my uncles friend gets all the cars from bill kids toyota and takes them to the impound yard for them for free. then he gets $125 for the car. well he seen that it had a turbo on it and asked my uncle if i wanted anything off of it and he doesnt know anything about aftermarket parts. So my uncle asked me if i wanted any parts off of a jetta with a turbo and i thought it was a 1.8t and i was going to get a free turbo off of it so we went and looked at it and it had that turbo and a whole bunch of other ---- on it that i got but i paid $100 for it all like an aeromotive fuel pressure regulator with braided lines, turbo manifold for a t-4, oil lines, tec-2, zeitronics wideband, downpipe with sensors, 35mm external wastegate, large front mount intercooler, intercooler piping, hks super sequential bov, intake manifold because it was a round aftermarket one, injectors, fuel rail, big throttle body and oil sump. All of that off of a the mk3 VR6 (the same as the one in the first fast and the furious) It also had some unorthadox racing pullys on it but i left them and i believe that the engine was built because with a setup like that it had to have some kind of internals. Oh and BTW i think it does need new seals so i plan on getting it rebuilt, does anyone have any ides of where i should send it?

The turbo does have very minimal play side to side and it does not have any in and out

Re: What kind of turbo do i have?? NOW WITH PICS!!

the wideband i need for my setup im running fmu right now ;) and the downpipe has egt and also but it is 3 inch and setup for v-band and the intercooler is being traded for a turbo timer ;D Im only doing the fmic for turbo timer because it is to a good friend otherwise i would want like $120

Re: What kind of turbo do i have?? NOW WITH PICS!!

Well i went over today to grab the intake mani and turbo manifold and the downpipe and wastegate but he told me he sold it and i could not have n e more off of it. i was pissed because i noticed it had an atp manifold and there was one on ebay for $1000 so i missed out ::)

I bet the car was probably stolen and they had a little joy ride. I can't think of anybody stupid enough to leave something like that sitting around.

Good score on the turbo though. www.blaastperformance.com can rebuild the turbo for cheap. Only problem is that they're located in Canada so there might be a little bit of lag time in the shipping. I hear they do good work though.

I vote for it being blown. Looks like it's also leaking out of the compressor housing and ran down the side of it. I think turbonetic snails come brand new with in and out play. lol. My old turbonetics had more play then ummm....ahhhh....a turbo with alot of play. Alot of their turbos I see for sale all have both vertical and horizontal play in them. It's like their built in same play as ssauto snails. But what am I talking about..I bought a ssauto snail. :1
