what kind of turbo do i have

i bought what i thought was a garrett t3 tubo on ebay, but when it was shipped it did not fit my adapter plates that came with my turbo manifold that was made for a t3. the turbo is in good condition no shaft play, no cracks any where but i have no clue what kind of turbo i have.
the markings on the turbo say:
Garrett A/R42 M24 1-1

What kind of turbo do i have?

what shape is the port on the flange on the turbo? what about on the manifold? one of the two is gonna be wrong. tell us the shapes (or better yet, take a pic) then we can tell you which one it is.

well mine is not a garett but its airreasearch and they are practicly the same thing...does your flange look like this?

If so you can do what I did to make it fit a T3 flange I made a "long turbo post" a while back that shows how

Garrett=AiResearch
AiResearch=Garrett
"1981: The AiResearch name is dropped. The engine business is named Garrett Turbine Engine Company."

As for the offset flange:
Drill out the standard T3 pattern. I believe it's one hole. I have seen this done before. You will have to grind or file the back of the new hole to make room for the bolt. There is a lot of material to work with.

Or, get the dodge pattern flange at www.relentlessracing.com

Re:what kind of turbo do i have

i dont have the turbo with me,its at my friends hes making me some flanges. But i am sure that it does not have an offset hole. The holes though are about a 1/4 inch off on the flange and manifold. also the opening on the maifold (part where connects to turbo) is about 1/4 inch bigger than the exhaust side of the turbo. I took it to a metal shop around town they wanted to chagre me $90 for a flange but they sad the would make one that would slowly tapper down slowly to make the airflow smooth between the maifold and the turbo, but didnt do it, way to expensive.

sorry if i am not explaing right i am a newbie.

Re:what kind of turbo do i have

What does it say on the turbo exhaust housing? should say A/R also.
There is a chance you might have gotten a T4 turbine housing.
Many jokers piece back the unwanted parts of a T3/T4 turbo setup and sell the T4 turbine housing with the T3 compressor side.
Post some pics for us.
