Well, I ordered an intercooler off eBay last week. The intercooler that I ordered is a 5.5" tall bar and plate intercooler. I wanted a fairly small intercooler because it is going on an EF with a stock engine. I don't need something huge, just something small that cools the air down a bit.

So I got a package today and when I opened it up I found this:









Now, this one is a few inches taller than the one I ordered, and the core is tube and fin, NOT bar and plate like I wanted.

I suppose I could try to contact the seller and return this to him, but who knows how much I would lose in shipping costs etc. Or, I could just keep this one and see if I can make it fit (shouldn't be too hard). The quality seems to be fine, the fins aren't nearly as fragile as my old JRC FMIC.

Anyways, so should I just keep this one? Or try to send it back and see what happens next time around?

I got that same ---- with mine, its leik open finned,nto bar+ plat or whatever... idk, its sitting onmy teg right now, it shouldbeboosted within a week,so I'llknow then

 

i have the same one not in use. i also have a smaller one but its to small for anything i want imo

 

I've been doing some research and it looks like the core design is a copy of the Apexi staggered tube design.

The stuff I read said that it has better cooling capabilities than a regular tube and fin. But who knows.

I guess I can't really complain, for $85 shipped I can't expect too much.

I emailed the seller, so we will see what happens.

The only thing that sucks is, this intercooler is 8" tall. Which means that in order to fit it, I will have to hack up my bumper support. I really didn't want to modify my bumper support at all, which is why I ordered the smaller one in the first place.

I suppose we will see if the seller is willing to work with me.

 

That's the same exact FMIC I'm running. It's cool cuz it's JDM. Even says so right there on the intercooler!
