Re: what do you go for gaskets?

Downpipe shouldn't need a gasket if the mating surfaces are flat.

I make my own gaskets...used to use copper sheeting, but it's gettin' a little expensive. Depends on what the gasket is for though...exhaust I love copper, but for little ---- stuff like bov's and wastegates I go to vato-zone and buy a sheet of lead layered gasket material.

For hot stuff I use Red high temp RTV sealant and make sure the mating surfaces are flat. It works on manifolds, turbos, wastegates. I've never had a problem using this stuff.

For things like wastegates, water fittings and itntake manifolds I use cork gasket material with RTV smeared on really thin on both sides to help bond the gasket to the surface. if you ever decide to take it off later it comes off really easy.
