i think i need to get a flnge but where do i get one? and or, there is a thick piece of metal on the side of the turbo that the used to make it to external wastegate, by blocking off that other hole, so can they weld the piping right to that piece of metal??

You can buy flanges at like... R/R/E, or even JGSTOOLS.com for a small price. I believe to switch to an external wastegate, you just need weld a plate over the "flap" (best word I can think of right now... long day)

yeah or you can weld the wast gate arm solid and remove the flapper..

 

im not sure u guys get what im talking about, the wastegate is already blocked off with a plate that looks like a downpipe flange. and it is removable so i was wondering if i can weld to that flange plate, which im hoping can be used as a downpipe flange

 

is it a big plate with only one hole in it where u can look in and see the exhaust housing of the turbo. the opening should be about 2 1/2". that is where u would start to form the dp.

try to clap it to something hard and flat or it may warp when welded... My WRX DP flange warped after I plasma cut it and welded to it...

 

i just got back from the muffler shop and bought a flange for my downpipe for $2 . the same ---- that they sell online for $20. WTF?
