What to do about a filter on my turbo

I have a 99 civic si that will soon have a inline pro manifold and precision sc34 turbo, i am wondering if a filter will fit?
can you post up pics of your intake setup?

Re: What to do about a filter on my turbo

i doubt if anyone here will have your exact combo...just make up a pipe to put a filter wherever you have room...or use a screen

yeah i had trouble getting my K&N 3" filter to fit in my EK, we ended up pointing it downwards so you can barely see it when looking at the engine its pretty low`to the ground. i think im going to change it out for a smaller cone filter pretty soon or maybe reroute the piping to the fenderwell.

You will see fan clearance issues from the turbo housing, not so much the filter. The filter issues are more with how much room you have on cold side of the turbo.

Noone can really tell you anything as a fact, you just have to make things fit for you. This is the stuff you have to do when you don't buy a kit. The engineers at Greddy, edelbrock, ect. figure these little things out so you don't have to. Doesn't really seem worth it to me.

it's more fun figuring stuff out anyways... last time we had to do it, we made our own turbo manifold in 2 hours

^^^ I had one of those for a while until it melted and felt apart on me. I also had it right on my comp housing so that might of played a part being heatsoaked from the mani.

Re: What to do about a filter on my turbo

WHY THE HELL DO YOU GUYS RUN NO FILTER/SCREEN MESH

you gain what.. maybe like 1-3hp at most. and at what cost guys.. cmon ----.. do you really want to suck something into your turbo. chip up your fins.. have them tear up your pipes.. is it really worth it?

---- why would ppl even think of doing that. that makes no sense to me what so ever unless the car is STRICTLY track.

srry.. just thought i'd voice my opinion

Re: What to do about a filter on my turbo

because its easy, thats it. a screen seems to work fine and is easy as hell

Re: What to do about a filter on my turbo

i don't have a filter or screen, i'm just lazy and have the gay ford .63/.60 that requires the factory elbow with flange, i would like to run a filter if someone dropped the elbow off at my house and i had to put absolutely no effort towards getting it, other than that, no filter for me :P

Re: What to do about a filter on my turbo

use some panty hose ;). i never got around to getting a filter so i threw a piece of screen on it and never though about it again. if you mess up a turbo, it's not that big of a deal because you can get another for pretty cheap (since it did come from the junkyard in the first place). but if i had a pimp ass ball bearing turbo i would run a filter no doubt.

Re: What to do about a filter on my turbo

eh even if the turbo came from a junkyard i'd still baby it. i'd be to worried about it messing up my motor or something and on a DD i can't afford that

If you can't afford to mess around then slap on a filter. If you don't really care then use a screen. It's really just a matter of opinion and I've never heard of anybody ------- up their turbo with a screen on anyways. Heck Projekteg has neither. :P
