what is detontion
iam new to turbo what is
detontion detontion detorys cyclinder how can i stop it |
Re: what is detontion
you mean detonation ;) and basically yes it will ---- your motor up...usually caused by to much timing, retard your timing even at the dizzy is better than nothing at all, cheap (low octane) fuel will cause detonation as well, always run premium fuel...

Re: what is detontion
Detonation occurs when the expanding flame front further compresses and heats a prtion of the air-fuel mixture in a corner of the combustion chamber that is already at a critcally high temp. That small portion of mixture than explodes before the flame front can reach it. This explosion creates a second pressure wave in the combustion chamber that causes the cylinder pressures to rise at an uncontrolled rate, causing cylinder temps above acceptable limits. The second pressure wave collides with the cylinder walls combustion chamber or piston top. This collision makes these parts vibrate or ring like a bell, causing the knocking or pinging noise.
5 things determine if your going to detonate or not. 1- air/ fuel mixture 2- The cooling system 3- compression ratio 4- ignition timing 5- octane rating of your fuel |
