i'm selling a tranny to this guy for his 14b and some cash and i'm wondering what to check for when i check it out.
i know damaged blades are bad and cracks in housings are bad, but what is acceptable shaft play?
he said it has minimum shaft play and that it doesn't leak or burn oil.
how will i know if it has too much shaft play?
i know it should spin freely
i'm really wondering about shaft play.
now here is some **** for you guys to insure i get an answer

 

if it has in/out.. bad. side to side.. not as bad. if you can't flex on it hard, and contact the housings.. then it can't be too bad, maybe a little smokey

 

Oil in the compressor housing is usually a bad sign.

well ended up not trading the turbo. he called last night and told me when he went to get it in the garage he noticed the housing was cracked or something.
so i sold the tranny but still need a turbo.

lowball him on that 14b they most of them have cracks in the hotside, they usually still work fine
