what cfm at 7psi with a 12a?

Ok I got a 12a turbocharger for my d15b7 stock internals..I need to know how much cfm can my car take with an fmu? cause with a t3 at 4psi is like my 12a somewhere around 7 or 8psi right? so its not really up to psi its in the cfm's right? so how much cfm does a t3 put out at 8psi? and how much psi do I have to go up to make the same amount of cfm with my 12a as the t3 @8psi..because just say if you get the t3 with fmu and @8psi it would put out just making up a number say 350cfms well just say teh 12a @ 8psi would only put out 240cfm..do you get what I am saying? if so would I be able to turn my 12a up to the a psi that puts out 350cfms?even if it was like 12 or 13 psi? any info would be great...thanks

Sorry I don't have an answer for you, but I have a tdo512a from my conquest that I want to stick on my d16. Do you have the turbo on the car now? I'm wanna know what it's like..

Re: what cfm at 7psi with a 12a?

actually I got it done just like 30 min ago and I looked at the turbo for some reason and seen rocks from my gravel driveway in the fu*kin turbo lol..so I have to unbolt in the morning and dump'em out..But I will let you know how it turns out at stock 7psi.but even as small as the turbo is I think it will be pretty nice increase in power that we can feel..well I am hoping it will...so nobody knows or just dont understand what I am saying?

Re: what cfm at 7psi with a 12a?

I personally think it's going to be a VERY responsive turbo for my 1.6'er. It was actually to small for the conquest IMO. I'm not looking to make crazy numbers here, just something to tinker with.

12a will be dissappointing even on a 1.5

Re: what cfm at 7psi with a 12a?

well got the stuff on and cleaned out..lol..but my plugs are bad so I am waiting for my mother she went to get them for me..I am all sweaty and stinky lol..but its spools up pretty good, it smokes slightly, I used some flex pipe hose from lowes its 3'' flex tubing which only cost 7 bucks so I am gonna try that until I get real IC piping..I will post up some pics of my finished project..its a 89 crx dx with mpfi swap and obd1 re-wire with z6 head and p28 ecu with vtec wired into the ecu and a 5spd si tranny..I just hope this turbo will make me happy and give it a lil more umpth..lol..

Re: what cfm at 7psi with a 12a?

well I took the car for a drive and it didnt work out too well lol..my charge pipe well flex tubing broke it popped I got a lil pull and it pulled pretty good then all of a sudden it wouldnt pull like that again..and looked at the charge pipe and it had broke in like 4 or 5 different places..so now I have to order me some actual charge pipe..but man was that turbo loud driving down the road with open exhaust, I love that sound..

Re: what cfm at 7psi with a 12a?

yeah i got the same turbo, actually building one, its pretty small what plp say, i got a zc so hopefully it runs good, did you orderd your own adapter plate? or you made it your self, i do have a HF manni layin around so i just need the adpater plate and the peace that goes around the exhuast side of the 12a, im kinda new in the tubo scene but the charge pipe your talking about is actually the tubing right going out of the intake side of the turbo right? lol, if you can post some pics up it be awesome, later

Re: what cfm at 7psi with a 12a?

yes the charge pipe would be the tubing going from the intake side of the turbo to the intake manifold..but my tubing couldnt hold the pressure and it blew in like 3 diff spots..but yea this lil turbo spools up like crazy and loud! but I need new seals in my turbo cause it smokes..but yea I made my own bracket for the turbo to hf manifold..and made my own oil lines..and I am gonna make my own down pipe..well I am gonna go to a lil bit bigger turbo until I find a seal kit for the turbo its a 12a and hard to find seals for it..so I am gonna get a more common turbo so if I ever need a rebuild ya know...but I will try to post pics here pretty soon..I am prob gonna get my other turbo tom...so Ill let you all know how it goes..

Re: what cfm at 7psi with a 12a?

thats kewl, i do need an adpater plate and the peace that goes to the side of the exhuast side, mines is missin that when i bought the turbo, if so if you can make a down pip thats be nice, i would be intrested,o yeah about the rebuild kit, i found mines on ebay , they say it works for TDO5/6 well i hope its the one,its in the shop if not they prob order one, so just hit me up agian, you got aim? maybe we can talk business there.

Yes please post pics. :) I'm not sure if I missed it or not, I skimmed over the posts again, but what IC are you using? I'm going to be using the one from my conquest. Do you still have AC? Did you just remove the AC fan (I beleive it's the AC fan. The fan on the drivers side) What kind of manifold are you using?

GReddy07 07-17-2006 12:55 PM

Re: what cfm at 7psi with a 12a?

I am using an hf manifold and I was using some ghetto piping from lowes that couldnt hold up to the pressure lol..and no I dont have A/C or ac fan..I do have the stock radiator...I made the bracket to fit my crx without the small radiator..
I am prob gonna start fab downpipes and such for parts or money..but I can make you that down pipe for you car..I can make a down pipe off of my 12a and take pics and see if you want it..but how long do you need it underneath the car? and do you need a bracket at the end or can you get someone to weld it to your exhaust? let me know...thanks

hey Rascal if you need the downpipe and bracket let me know i can make it for ya for a price, cheap though.. thanks

Re: what cfm at 7psi with a 12a?

It's going to be a little bit before I need anything. I'm getting the turbo rebuilt at the moment and I'm still robbing parts from the conquest and measuring a few things. I don't have a clue yet as to how I'm going to mount this semi-big IC. Being off the conquest, I have most of the charge pipes, bov, oil lines (but I'll probably replace with some better ones.) MBC, and a whole assortment of other goodies. It won't be that long, but money is an issue since I'm trying to pay off the car with the quickness. I only owe like 1K on it but still. Not only that I'm going to add a few more goodies before I throw it all together. And I need some durable axles. Any suggestions?

GReddy07 07-17-2006 01:44 PM

Re: what cfm at 7psi with a 12a?

I think the stock axles are fine unless your planning on running a real high hp and trq. I hear alot of people sticking with there stock axles.. but yea just let me know when you need any fab work done..and as far as the IC can you not mount it on the front or is it a smic? cause they call a smic a side mount inter-heater lol cause they dont do anything but heat it up...I dont know from exp just from what I have heard...thanks
