What am I missing?? Recommendations please.

Hey folks what's up? I've begun to purchase parts for my HMT but I've had to sell my missing link and vortech FMU because I want to have a better fuel management system.

Here's what I'll have - this is for a d16y7 with a y8 manifold fyi.

HF manifold
T25 or small T3
tyrus or customcoach FMIC
DSM 1G BOV
1 step colder plugs
all the misc. stuff like oil lines, water lines, gauges, downpipe, 2.5" exhaust and high flow cat.

For fuel management the tried and true V-AFC hack and DSM 450's. One concern I have is that in Denver the highest octane available is 91. I'm sure a few places have 92 but I havn't found any that do.

Am I missing anything for my setup? I want to boost 7 psi daily.

Honestly I think the fmu would be good with the missing link for ur fuel if your only going to be boostin 7 psi above that I would gow the afc hack! Just retard the timing a few degrees and you should be fine! Also just run the 91 youl be fine!

Since you already sold the fmu and ml, I guess you are set with the hack. Doing that, don't forget abour the resistor box or splicing in the 10W 10 ohm resistors. Also, you didn't list an adapter plate. Buying one pre-fabed is really important if you don't have access to a large assortment of equipment. The adapter plates from bmc in the f/s forums here have been getting exellent feedback.

adapter plate is included in all the misc stuff I listed, I just didn't mention the adapter box.

Go back to customcivics.com
;-)

fastcivicboi - I was gonna go without timing retard unless I heard knocking or pinging when driving with boost...

I don't know of anyone else in denver, but another thought i had...

When you do your inital tune, you might want to lean it out just a little becuse of the thinner air. When you do your first startup, if it doesn't fire, check the plugs to see if you might be dumping too much fuel in there.

cc.com is entertaining, but not the most informative with more advanced stuff.

^i agree, toupe

sounds like a good setup, mike.

you asked me on cc.com about what i was going to use for fuel management. i guess i decided against the FMU because i didn't want my rail under that much pressure all the time and i wanted the adjustability of an afc hack. when you use and FMU youre kinda stuck.

good luck with it

---- I just wanna get this turbo going asap. I'll just start with the FMU and 6 psi for now. Then when that gets old after a few months I'll get the v-afc unit and do the DSM injectors/resistor box and go for 8 psi. Probably get a new clutch at that time also. ::)

if you are going for a second gen unit, skip the vafc and get the safc. Trust me, it is better.

my bad. I don't even have VTEC. I meant to say S-AFC. Anyways I did a lot of research on the SMC 500 yesterday so I'm gonna give the DSM 450's and the SMC 500 a shot, at least at the start.

i have one...it does its job but is not tunre-friendly (takes too long to make setting corrections)...and since there is no hi/lo throttle, you will run rich at part throttle at higher rpms (causes some bogging if racing from a roll)
