Welded Turbo Exhaust

I have a T28 from a SR20 that apparently has been modified. The turbo exhaust outlet has a metal coupler about 3" tall welded to it. I am applying this to my 95 civic d16z6. Since I can't bolt a normal downpipe to it, what can I do? My current idea is to cut the downpipe and just couple it. Would this be reliable?

Weld a v-band to the outlet and make a down pipe for it.

the way they welded it looks like your gonna be going external gate. i also say go v-band.

one more thing, make sure you get the internal gate welded all the way shut so you won't get any leaks.

im curious as to why anyone would do that, is the weld holding the adapter/reducer any good? might look into having it removed. just pull the turbo apart first. i still cant help but wonde why anyone did that

I would just get a cut off wheel and cut that off. It doesn't look like it's doing anything besides getting in your way...or go v-band
