Water injection INSTEAD of intercooler?

Here in Cali we have a lot of issues with cops and modified cars and I really want to avoild getting noticed. Having a sleeper is nice too.
I have a ka-t 240sx and I don't want to have a big fmic for everyone to see. Some people do V-mounts, but they're a bitch to do and you need to have a big hole in your hood for it to work correctly.

How practical is it for a DD to just run water injection instead of a intercooler? I could shorten up the piping and spray the water at a lower boost than normal.
Pros - no big fmic
Less lag
Colder iat?
Cons - have to refill water all the time?

Any thoughts?

The only con is failure. Use descent parts, and it's not a problem.
Trust me... There is little limit to how much watter you can carry, but I would keep careful tabs on water use VS time on boost while you first have a system up.

You can just as easily use a 1 gallon, or 3 L container as you can 3-4 of them.

Start with one, or two gallons. 1 gallon will get nearly anyone through a tank of gas, unless they're using it all the damned time.

There's allways water-to-air intercooling if you dont want a FMIC and a bunch of charge pipes.

I guess you could allways use your washer fluid resivor, that way when it starts to get low the light on the dash comes on.

I was thinking about using the normal resivoir...
I can paint it black... do most people just use spray paint?

Also, which is generally colder? water injection or a front mount?

water injection should be better than a fmic if done right but there is always a risk.. imo it shouldnt be used for everyday boost, it should be somethin you use when you raise your boost at the track or racin someone. i wouldnt feel confortable with only water injection. i think best way is to use both and spray the ic black. i've seen it done many times but i dont know what paint is used. i remember there was a thread about this paint and its effect, search it willl help

i had only water injection in my 510 and loved it, my ---- kept cool and helped prevent detenation.. i used the wiper resivour (sp?) and a 50/50 blend of alcohol and water, a single resivour full would last me about a month max, two weeks minimum

Is there a link to HOW to do a HMWaterInjection? I think I have all the stuff to do it and it sounds as though all of you are for it. So, what the heck, I'll try it out just point me in the right direction, I have a tank/motor/wires/etc. :y

all you need is a tank, motor, lines, and a boost pressure siloniod to activate the motor at a certin boost pressure.. mine kicked in at 4psi

get to crackin and post some pics
