have you checked the FAQ? I can't remember if it's in there or not.. I know it has been covered many times in this forum in the past.

I use high preshure fuel line, but tranny cooler line is alot cheeper.

Re:water cooling

Alot of people only run oil cooling. Water isnt neccessary, but it may decrease your oil life.

I don't really agree with that one...Although you don't NEED water cooling it WILL make the turbo last longer, espessially if it's a daily driver. If you already have a center section that is setup for water cooling you might as well use it.

i used fuel hose,1/4" i think. more or less put the turbo inline with the hose running from ur intake manifold to under the tb.

won't the car run hoter with the water cooling line?

Re:water cooling

not enough to where ur car cant cool itself down.

Re:water cooling

I ran mine from the back of the block where there is a hose running from the back of the block up to the back of the head. (BIG 5/8 inch hoses) Out from one to the turbo, back from the turbo from the other. The car runs at exactly the same temp as it did before I put a turbo on it, even under load, it NEVER even runs warm. My radiator even has a tiny crack in it. BTW it does add about a quart more coolant to the system....but I did use really long hoses. Hey, the more coolant the better... ;D

I actually want to try this...

Where can I get a low profile banjo style fitting though? The opening in the back is really tight.

I also don't understand the comment about tapping in between the intake manifold and the throttle body. I always through those were kind of one in the same... ???

you have whats called your 'coolant by pass' which is two coolant hoses going in to the tb right under where your intake goes, one is a coolant feed, the other is a coolant return, you can t in to those.

Tapping the line is simple, find a coolant line under your throttle body, cut it in half, and extend both of the lines to the turbo. (use rubber fuel line 5/16 works great) and run the lines into the turbo, either way works there is no coolant flow direction through a center section.

As far as a low profile banjo bolt, just use a stock one, almost all t3's use banjos from the factory, saab's and I think Tbirds do to?.. I usually just hack the coolant lines off and flare the ends, slide the hose over and clamp it.

Re:water cooling

Rather than cutting it, I'm just going to take it out completely. That way I don't have to mess around with any kind of couplers or intermediate fittings between the new and the old. Besides, if I change my mind, I got the old one ready to go back on. ;)

As far as a banjo style fitting, I got my turbo with plastic plugs in them, so I have to find something else. I can get a regular barb fitting in the front, but there's only about an inch clearance in the back and I'm pretty sure I can't get a standard elbow in there, so I gotta find something a little more low profile.

Re:water cooling

I'm going to add water lines to my HMT today and just wanted to make 100% sure I had a few things right. When I'm done, I'll do a little write up instead of having to answer the same "water cooling" questions over and over again. :)

1)The cooling line that I'm going to tap in to is the one coming from the back of the head/under the valve cover filter. It the one that goes under the fuel line and to the TB... is that right? I know for sure it is a cooling line, but it I reroute it to the turbo and then back to the TB, will that result in higher TB temps?
