Wastegate Question - Boost Creep

Hey turbo gurus, I've got a boost creep problem and I need to know if it's my wastegate. When I use a bycicle pump on the feed line the air leaks out the wastegate, I have to pump really fast in order to build up any pressure. Is this normal? I was thinking the turbo provides enough flow to overcome this problem. Another issue, my wastegate flange hole is only 1" in diameter. Is this too small to releive enough pressure from a 1.8L engine?

Thanks guys!

when you pressurize your charge pipes it comes out of where...the wastegate actuator?...sounds like a leaky actuator

Whats your whole setup? Where is your WG line hooked up to? Compressor or intake mani?

How exactly does it creep?

Re:Wastegate Question - Boost Creep

My setup is as follows:
td04 turbo, log manifold, external cartech wastegate, WG line is hooked up to the charge pipe before the throttle body. Let me be more specific about the wastegate, I bought it used so I'm not really sure if it's the problem or not. Basically the wastegate leaks the air coming from the feed line. The air leaks out the sides of the wastegate. When I use a bicycle pump to pump air into the feed line, I have to pump really fast in order to build up any pressure in the feed line. I don't know if this is a problem since the volume of air that comes through the charge pipe should overcome the leaks.

The 2nd possibility is the size of the hole on my wastegate flange. It's only 1" diameter so I'm not sure if it's able to relieve enough pressure. It seems like the hole for the wastegate port in the stock o2 sensor housing is about 1" in diameter so I thought it would be ok.

I don't know if I'd call it creep, it just seems to go to about 10psi when I floor it, and I want it to be at around 5psi. What do you guys think? Buy a new wastegate? Or is 1" diameter too small for the wastegate flange hole?
