wastegate question
what would happen there was no line from the wastegate to the compressor?

Re: wastegate question
Your wastegate wouldn't open, you would overboost, then you would probably blow your motor.

Re: wastegate question

Haha, oh my. Walter, the WG needs to sense the pressure to have it operate and open at the desired PSI. Without a vaccum source the WG doesn't read anything and will never open. You need a vaccum source to the WG from somewhere that way when you build boost it WILL open at the desired PSI. JP |
Re: wastegate question
i dont know to explain good in english.. :'(. someone can give me class of english hahah..

(though it's in spanish ;D). http://mecanicavirtual.iespana.es/im...o-descarga.jpg http://mecanicavirtual.iespana.es/im...bo-valvula.jpg i did study this topic about turbos ago a long time so far ..i love the turbos haha , it's a puty that my enligsh is bad because there are a lot info about some stuff (about engine, camshaft, etc) in english.. but little by little i learn english more.. :y |

B16CRXT was right in telling you his way then. :-\ It will read PSI and MMHG (vacuum) though now with boost in the lines. Those "vacuum" lines do have vacuum in them and show vacuum until boost is created and there is now pressure in the lines. Any vacuum source will work because when the car boosts there is no vacuum and now pressure in the lines instead. I'm trying my hardest buddy to help you, I really am. JP |
Re: wastegate question
what I did was get a vaccum manifold from a guy on here named djfob. I put that manifold on teh brake booster line, and ran a good size line from it to the wastegate. But I had a turboxs dsmbc on that line as well to switch from low to high boost.

Re: wastegate question
Run a line from the WG nipple to the Turbo nipple which SHOULD be on the turbo outlet. That will work just fine.

Re: wastegate question
mm , do you have some pic about this? i try find one but nothing.. only see WG with one nipple that it goes to manifold..
example. http://www.pms.net.au/webimages/3_PE...ATE-35_cut.jpg i will continue searching.. |
Re: wastegate question
putting it to the manifold will be fine, if you have enough open vaccum sources. I wouldnt let it share a small line with something else thoug. That's why I got the vaccummanifold....to split the brake booster line and give me a large source to share on.

Hmm, I understand what you're saying now. I didn't know you lost a psi or 2 through the IC like that. My gauge is off by about 2psi anyway from comparing it to the dyno. I might re-route my lines straight up to the empty source on the intake mani. JP |
