Default wastegate question

hello folks i got a question for ya...please help
I have a greddy 15G turbo got it from a member on this site, anyway on the wastegate acutator rod it looks like a few of the threads where cut off, my question to you is can i use a different wastegate from a different turbo or should i have a metal part welded on to the rod....please help me out.

p.s. greddy wants 120 bucks and 1 month(maybe).

It was obviously cut off for a ghettro way of upping the boost. Are you okay with the existing boost level?

thats the problem i haven't put it on yet because i'm not sure what psi it's set at.

so do you have any idea how much is missing?

There are a few people running around this website with those things.. maybe they can measure the stock positioned arm for you?

i say dont boost less than 6 psi. if you boost less its kinda a waist of time IMO. make it worth wile and go 6-8 psi.

6-8psi is what i'm going for but i'm not sure how much was cut off. maybe i'll put it on my car and see what it's set at

just try it as is to see what the boost level is, just take it slow in to boost. if you need it to be longer, you can just fabricate your own using steel rod of about the same diameter and just thread the end to the same size/pitch. it may be set right where you need it though. contact the member that you got it from and see if he recalls what it was set at.

I can get you one tonight and post it tomorrow (just moved, DSL isn't on yet) although, I really don't see it making that much difference. If it's just a couple of threads, there is still going to be plently of room to work with it.
