Wastegate for my Turbo V10 build

5 Attachment(s)
Hey man, I just checked my email and found out my JGS400 wastegate is backordered. Should I stick with this and just order for someone else? I talked to a few people and they said to go with a Tial. one place said 38mm since I don't turn high RPM, another said 44mm due to the size of my engine (6.8L) What do you guys think? I've attached a few pictures of my build.
Thanks
Jeff

I would go with the larger because of the size of the motor and running a more serious setup. How much boost are you planning? Bigger would be better for spikes/creep, or dual 38mm's.

If you are looking new, have you looked at the synapse wg's?

+1 ^^^

If there's one thing I have learned it's to chose your WGs wisely, trying to deal with creeping is a huge ------- drag when you're trying to run a precise tune, and spikes can really scare the ---- out of you if your setup isn't built to handle it. It's definitely worth it to keep your boost in check.

Exactly, That is one reason I have never purchased a used wastegate no matter what brand it is. I'm either going with the Synapse 50 or Tial 44. i'm only looking for 10psi max. Stock internals motor.

Hmm, 10PSI isn't all that much but you're still getting a lot of flow with a 6.8L

The 44 should hold that, I havn't handled any Synapse units yet so I can't vouch for them.

Tial 44mm should work fine for 10lbs not smaller

Turbo10 04-08-2009 08:20 PM

Now, What if I build a forged internal ported head V10 and want 15pis. would the tial still hold it?

HMTsol 04-08-2009 08:21 PM

then use two 44mm, otherwise you mught have boost creep, its sucks

Ok, just add another when I need it. I'm shooting for 500WHP with under 10lbs. I had a guy tell me today if I push 10lb to it look for around 600WHP. He said the V10's respond very well to boost. He done about 8 Ford econoline vans for Yellowstone, and It really woke them up. They were way down on power due to the 8000ft elevation and the snow tracks they use in the winter.
Thanks

Hey, Just purchased the Synapse 50mm gate. Read alot and watched a few vids, looks good. plus adjustable boost.
