Default wastegate on charge pipe?

Im peicing together a vortech style supercharger kit. I just wanted to throw this idea at you guys and see if anyone know any reason it wont work. Since you have to change your pulley size to controll the boost on supercharger, is their any reason I couldn't controll my boost with an external style wastegate? Im not worried about raising the boost, Im just concerned with keeping the boost down. Im hoping I can controll my boost by putting a wastegate somewhere on my charge pipe

Well, that's the idea of a wastegate, is to control the boost =P

and the wastegate usually goes into the exhaust, to control the spool, rather than dealing with the pressure directly..

Another thing you could look into is a pop-off valve (not blow off), which is a safety measure for overboosting conditions.

Pop off valve eah? What is the normal application of a pop off valve? Any info of where I could further look into that would be appreciated. That does sound like what I would need.

a pop off valve is just that alot of air compresser tanks have them. simple concept really you get to much pressure and the valve opens and you get less pressure

I found one that greddy makes that will hold the intake charge at a set PSI even while its venting. This seams like the ticket, but I need to get the kg/sq converted to PSI to see if it will work for me... Im going to start a new topic to see if anyone can convert it for me.
