Wastegate Actuator & Boost Controller

My wastegate actuator's niple thing for the vaccuum line was a little bent when I bought it (used of course). I tried straightening it out and it looks like the wall around the nipple was kind of ripped (if you can imagine such a thing). You guys think this should be replaced or maybe try some JB weld? it's not installed (yet) and it's a stock internal D16Z6 (low boost).

****

Second and a little more perplexing is the idea of boost controllers. I found several write ups on how they work, but I'll be damned if I still don't undertand how they work exaclty. My wastegate has an adjustable arm (for setting the PSI), but why would you need an additional part that controls the PSI when the wastegate already does it? Or does the BC override the wastegate arm settings?

THANKS :P

a new actuator is only cheap or just get another one from another turbo of the same kind and swap them over, its a really simple operation. im sure that someone on this site has got one they can "donate" ;)

Re:Wastegate Actuator & Boost Controller

replace the nipple the boost will prob blow off the jb weild, the bc kinda blocks the boost from getting the the wg actuator,so when ur actually making 10psi the wg actuator only gets 5 or whatever

Re:Wastegate Actuator & Boost Controller

well, most turbo's comes stock at 5-6psi, the adjustable rod is good if u want an additional 2-3 psi. I know the greddy turbos can do that by moving the rod nut shorter to get more boost. In my case I had to cut my wastegate rod. Peeps who use boost controllers, there goal is for higher boost. I personally didn't need a boost controller, cus I'm satisfied with 8 psi.hope that helps..
