Default Wastegate

I have a IHI turbo with a internal wastegate. It is a IHI/Borg warner similar to a T3/T04E. I do not have it installed yet and I have not used it. My question is, my wastegate actuator does not hold the wastegate closed on its own. It needs vacuum to pull it completely closed. I checked the actuator and it opens fine (around 4 psi)but does not spring closed until it see's vaccum. Is this the way it should work I wouldn't think so but I don't know. My friend has a T3 and his spings closed on its own.

Interesting.. I've never seen a internal gate like that, all time I have seen wastegates close and shut at 0in of vac.

It really shouldnt be a big deal at all, maybe that is just the way that wastegate was designed, its worth a shot trying..

Mine doesn't need much vacuum, I can get it to close by sucking on the vacuum line. Its pretty close to 0 in. Thanks for the reply and the input.
