waste gate vac

i got a airesearch T3 .42/.48 and the compressor has no vac source for a waste gate so can i tap a hole in the compressor and use a fiting and use that as a vac source

Re:waste gate vac

why not just use a vac source from the manifold?

Re:waste gate vac

Madhatter yes you can tap a hole in the compressor housing and it will work fine, but like alwaystoodtall said, maybe tapping into the manifold might be a faster and easier solution.

Re:waste gate vac

if he was going to tap it :P shouldnt there be a flat spot on the turbo right near the end of the compressor outlet??

Personally, I don't really like the flat ones, the nice round ones work well for me. Wait, we are still talking about compressor housings right? :P I've had both types tapped with fittings and they both worked.
I just noticed I said to tap the manifold in my first post, I meant just run a vacuum line and tee offanother line. Sorry about the confusion.

Re:waste gate vac

it's not worth it to tap the compressor housing for a wastegate vac/boost source, or if you do have a fitting on the compressor housing i recomend not to use it for the waste gate. from personal experience i noticed full boost in my car came almost 1500rpm quicker by Ting off the intake manifold for the wastegate. here's what i did from an earlier post:
i T'd off the charcoal fuel/emission filter cause it was gonna be much easier then the PCV. i did it with a plastic T edit:(platic T painted flat black) instead of the bulky brass homedepot T <-what was i thinking ::).

further away so you could see where i Td' off.

no boost spikes at all with an internal w/g. now that the waste gate isn't feeding off the fuel pressure regulator, and the BOV vacuum source, the BOV doesn't flutter on low psi (5-7psi) and the BOV sounds louder too. but the main purpose as why i did this is to avaoid buying a $40. vacuum manifold and to end of reduce the almost 3psi in boost spikes i was getting. i already drove the car for a while and it worked out good.

ok i thank i'll go the easier of the two and use a t off the manifold hey can any one tell me if a standered t3 o2 housing(ones with the valve in them )will work
