Default washers between wastegate and compresser housing

If you put washers between the wastegate and spoolside of the turbo will that essentially do the same thing as lengthening the rod? Making the wastegate open sooner. I got two longer 10mm bolts and some thin washers and put them between wastegate mount and the compresser housing. If anyone has tried it let me know. I'm waiting on my ecu to get back to try it so see what the boost does. I'll see what happens but if others have tried it chime in.

If it brings the actuator closer to the wastegate it will lower the boost. The only problem is you will lose spool time.
