Warped Turbo Flange - Will It Leak? High Temp Sealant? bah

I noticed after bolting my manifold and turbo together that Ive got a small gap. I can slide a metal scale in there and that measures .016 on the vernier, real tight in some spots but I can get it through

Now I know a lot of ---- obviously isnt always true but is .015-.020 thou to much and will just leak like a mother fucker?

Its to cold for me to want to take it apart and get it remilled plus Id be weary of my turbo being milled

Do you guys think it will leak? Will exhaust carbon plug it up right away?

Anyquick fixes? High temp sealnt that I can kinda line in there to fill the small gap?

I dont wanna have any gaskets with this setup though

Do you think a .020 gap will just leak uncontrollably and not plug up with carbon

Take your manifold and turbo flange, and put them to the side of the chop saw. This will flatten both of them out.

I have done this lots, works good if you have a steady hand, just do some turn 90 deg do some more turn because .018" + will leak like a dirty ----.

On the JYTurbo mailing list, you either use a belt sander, or a block of wood with sandpaper stapled to it. Takes 30 seconds to five minutes depending on which method you go with.

Or you can drive fifteen minutes across town to drop it off, then back another 15 minutes later on and shell out $20+.

Your call, but the solution is ------- obvious.

Im gonna take it apart later on and use a flat file, should take to long. I doubt I could get it perfect though so I would like to throw a 2 layer tinfoil gasket in there, that will definetely work right? just a tight seal, its metal and itll be squished to ----

I dont want to give a generic shop my turbo (which i would have to drive out of town for) and trust them not to get anything inside of the turbo internally itself

Put the god damn thing against the side of the chop saw blade. 4.7 seconds later, your problem is solved. >:D

Anyone else think that using tinfoil is ridiculous? I'm pretty sure it would just disintegrate or something-- put tinfoil in a fire, i'm pretty sure it just gets all thin and crumbly, and if you're worried about ---- going through your turbo, it would probably be tinfoil going through it if you use it. If you don't have a chop saw or a belt sander, just buy some sweet ass sandpaper for like $2.00 and wrap it around a wood block and go to town. And why not use a gasket? They come stock on your car and i don't recall anyone complaining that their gasket failed? You can get one brand new for under $20, or just use your old one over

I've seen a number of those perforated metal foil SSAC homo-gaskets blow out. I also see more turbo Honduhs that you do, hottits.

Either run no gasket, or run one of the bling-zilla MLS gaskets.

you guys are retarded, the t3 gasket will not blow out if installed correctly.

you guys are making a production out of a stupid question and a even simpler answer.

I would never run without a gasket. Just get one from LSDmotorsports.

I'm with hotrex, and I'd like to see video of the retard that sits sanding cast iron with sand paper and a block of wood.

NICE!
