Wanna get my B18C Turbo project started need input
I got a 99 B18C in my 98 civic I am planning to start my turbo hopefully around Christmas. I was planning on a T3/T4 with a 48/60 a/r. I just want some input from everyone b/c im starting to get everything now. I have to lower the CR also b/c I have all type-R internals so if any1 has or knows where and the best internals to get help me out please. its bored out .25 also. So if you view this post just help me out and add some input I wanna push a good amount of boost so just give me whatever input you can
Thanks a lot Rob |
Re:Wanna get my B18C Turbo project started need input
well u wanted input so here goes,it sounds like u have that motor build pritty good for n/a as far as having type r components and being bored out so if i were u i wouldnt take all that back out,i would either try tyo sell that motor or get a ls motor and build it. or u could just take all the internals out and have it sleaved(#1 b/c u had it bored out and#2 b/c u want to run a good amount of boost) i just wouldnt want to put all that money into a motor twice :-\

Re:Wanna get my B18C Turbo project started need input
I think I set came to the conclusion that im just gonna get the new block and start form there and build that up. I figured I get the block, pistons, maybe rods, put on some sleeves and make it nice then sell my N/A block I could brake close to even maybe wind up only spending a couple of hundred. But What turbo does everyone think will be best.????/////?

Re:Wanna get my B18C Turbo project started need input
Dude, T3/T4 ...... OFCOURSE!!!! the only turbo's that go on b-series are t3/t4's and big ass ------ T3's like a Super 60 or something around those lines...

Re:Wanna get my B18C Turbo project started need input
I know but im can't decide between a T3 super 60 or a T4/04 48/60 ar???????//?
Which one?? |
Re:Wanna get my B18C Turbo project started need input
super 60, you will have mad lag with a t4, unless you use some juice to spool it up, hmmmmmmm..... good idea, get the t4 and a 75 shot ;D

Re:Wanna get my B18C Turbo project started need input
Haha but which one im gonna put some nitrous on it but I wasn't planning on it right away? Anyone else have any input? What about a super 60 with NOS- good??? Help me out guys.
Thanks |
Re:Wanna get my B18C Turbo project started need input
Go for the T4 ;D Cmon, its a B series engine that has been bored over and running over sized pistons. Rebuild your top end and lag will not be a concern for you. Get your red line up to 9500 and you will be happy you went with the T4. Build yourself a drag car ;)

Re:Wanna get my B18C Turbo project started need input
My top end isn't really the problem i Got the revs up to 9600. It the bottom end im concerned about. I was gonna buy a whole new block built already Turbo ready. I was talking to Sparkracing and he might give me a good deal. Im not to sure though. I really just want to keep my block but the CR is way to high is all N/A. I think im gonna go with the T3/04 but not positive yet I wanna build this ---- really nice. Can any1 who views this thread just throw in some input i really wanna get started. I would really appreciate anything from any1

Re:Wanna get my B18C Turbo project started need input
I just have some last minute questions be4 i start it's coming soon.
1. How hard is it to swap the block and install ARP bolt? Is there anyway to do it w/o removing the motor.? any1 have detailed intructions how to swap a b18C block? 2. Anyone know the rough sizeing and angles for the mandrel piping on the turbo in a civic DX? 3.MOST IMPORTANT T3 SUPER 60/ OR T3/04 ?????????????? If anyone could help out it would really be appreciated Thanks a lot guys |
Re:Wanna get my B18C Turbo project started need input
it's not too hard to swap an engine. my first and only time, it took me 1 day. and when i was done, i said "damn i want to do that again". just look at the manuals for a b series engine (acura, civic si, etc.) and follow the engine removal/installation instructions.
enine swap: 1. drain coolant 2. unhook coolant/heater hoses 3. unhook throttle cable/clutch cable 4. unhook harness from driver and passenger side of car 5. unhook any vacuum lines and any other lines/cables from engine 6. support engine 7. take axles out of tranny/intermediate shaft 8. take off shift linkage 9. loosen/remove mount bolts 10. drop engine 11. drink a beer arp head stud install: 1. take head off of block 2. remove old head studs 3. install arp head studs 4. replace head gasket 5. replace head and torque to spec 6. drink a beer intercooler/charge pipes: 1. get at least 3-4 90° bends 2. get at least 2 40° bends 3. one good section of straight(maybe) 4. visualize where the pipes will be running, and cut them 5. drink a beer turbo: 1. always get the biggest turbo you can afford 2. drink a beer while you stare at your new turbo |
