VW 2.0...with a subie turbo...next option...t3/t4 50trim vs FP18g

So i have a 2001 2.0L 8v Jetta...my friend GAVE me his stock turbo off his '02 wrx (TD04L-13T) Now i'm looking to upgrade...since i did all the work to fit the turbo...i was thinking of keeping to subie upgrades(FP18g) but its not hard to jus get a different manifold and turbo all togther(T3/T4 50 trim).

All in all i'm looking for 350whp at around 24-25psi ON PUMP. Looking at the Compressor maps for the the two turbos they flow very much the same but what confuses me is that after calling FP direct and talking to a tech about it, he was saying that i can spin the turbo up to 28psi and that definately doesnt show when looking at its map. Where as the 50trim when looking at its map can spin upwards of 32-34psi. Anyway PSI is an irrelevent number at times...of course its all about volume of flow so when plotting on these compressor maps the differences in efficiencies is only 1 or 2 percent at various p/r and rpm.

Ok i think i'm rambling....which turbo would you all go with? How close do you all think they are?

That motor built? I didnt know an 8v could stand up to 350hp.

Yes it's built. JE pistons, Scat Rods. The stock motor handles around 250-275whp.

you might want to change your cold side piping to something larger than 1" for that kind of power..

more info on the setup, ---- looks good so far. Why did you choose to build an 8v? I dont know much about veedubs but isnt that like the worst engine ever?

umm...cold side is 2.5in hotside is 2in(same as turbo outlet) and i chose to build it to prove a point (that its NOT the worst engine ever)

50 trim wins every time for good power on lowish boost and pump gas. 350whp should be attainable if your motor can support it which it sounds like it can. The newest TD06H 18g from FP is leaps and bounds beyond the original 18g's that contained horribly inefficient compressor wheels, but I can't comment on it as I haven't run one yet. If you're talking about the TD05H 18g then this is a no brainer and go with the 50 trim.

Yes i'm talking about the new one..i was under the impression that its the same compressor wheel but in a 16g housing and with a TDO6 wheel with 1 less blade (hence the SL2)...
