since it's all out and apart anyways
i have decided to change a few things
added a 3" down pipe
relocated the wastegate and added the 1.5" downpipe for it
cleaned up the turbo to intake piping
added the water/alky nozzel
started on the fuel lines

yup... im a noob at welding ;D

Hell yeah, looks good. Did the Cyclone intake bolt right up?? or did you have to do some modifications?? At first I thought that was an entire engine from a Cyclone. Any significant differences??

Nice build..... I drove the infamous shaun41178's turbo formula 2 weeks ago... the fucker boogied..I can only imagine a 4.3.

Nice to see another Fiero owner who isn't interested in car shows and polishing paint.

update
when I relocated the turbo I knew the range shifter cable bracket that
also holds the clutch slave cylinder was going to have to be massaged
I cut horizontaly then met that cut with a vertical one efectivly making
a 90* slice. I moved the cable portion bake about an inch and lowered it
about a 1/4 then rotated it clockwise a few degresss. I drilled and tapped
for a 3/8 bolt to lock it in place for mocking up. My welder guy told me
cast aluminum is a bitch to weld with out warpage and pores opening up
and made some suggestions about V grooving it for a better result.

the first few shots are "as is from the welder" the installed pics are after
I filed and sanded it a little.

I used an adapter that mates a SBC to the fiero trans
and pretty much fabricated all the mounts etc

the engine is a '95 L35 CPI engine
base hp is 200 @ 4600
base torque is 260 @ 3500
to that i added the Syclone intake etc

the base Syclone engine makes about 170 hp (no turbo) and about 300 with turbo

Have you used the/a, water/meth injector before? What's the controller like with that Unit. I'm using a "coolingmist vari-cool II" set-up on my rig.

yes, its a devilsown... I have set it to start to come on at just before 5lbs and ramp up to 100% @ 10lbs
i run mostly windshield washer fluid and it dropped the iats over 75* on a hot day... i havent data logged it
but KR went from 12* to 0 and that you can feel.

vortecfiero 04-25-2009 10:26 AM

redid the exhaust to a dual system
3 inch down pipe to a Magnaflow Camero style universal fit muffler
then 2.5 in pipes to the tips which came with the car. Im not real
big on the tips but they seem to look ok on the car

We need a HMT fiero club.

I have a HMT sticker on my turbo fiero, you should add one vortec.

the vortec is basically an up dated 4.3 v6
the mounts for the origonal 2.8 are nothing like it so I had to design and fabricate everything
the trans will take some punishment but the secret is not to have too much tire... id rather
lose a bit of launch than grenade clutches and transmissions.

once rolling i can hammer it and things stay together lol

intercooler mods done

http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/2679/1013579.th.jpg
before mods

http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/5140/1013586.th.jpg
the height of any fittings going on top
would interfer with the deck lid so I had
these side exit pcs made up and welded on

http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/7443/1013581.th.jpg
another view

http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/1516/1013580.th.jpg
thottle body adapter welded on to the other end

http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/9985/1013585.th.jpg
yup thats 3" lol

http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/7250/1013584.th.jpg
ready to install

Aaron where can i find a post on your build up...
did a quick search and came up with way too many posts to go through each one... you're a busy guy lol

thanks in advance

AaronZ34 12-27-2009 02:52 PM

Sorry, here's the build thread. I was busy, I haven't done ---- for the past year but worked and bought a new car lol. I really like the upgrades to your car by the way, I'm not completely sure what all is knew, but your hotside is very well designed, amazing how similar it is to mine, puts the turbo in nearly the same place. Your wastegate feed is in a good place, wastegate is close to the turbine, and your new exhaust is really good looking! Wish you could have kept your trunk, but for people that don't need the trunk it's 15 lbs of unnecessary weight. I always liked the SyTy's, for just 285hp they pulled like freight trains, and just exploded off the line.

This is the current N* build, friend's car and build but I did the headers:

And here's my 3.4 turbo car:
