vband?

whats the deal with the "vband" downpipe? hows that ---- work? you dont need a flange? is it just clamping to the pipe and thats it?

Re: vband?

you need two flanges, one welded to the dp and one to the turbo. when they're put together they form a ridge that the V-shaped clamp goes over and presses together as it's tightened down.

you can see the two flanges and clamp in that pic. one is welded to the turbo and the other will get welded to the dp

Re: vband?

advantage is pretty obvious, loosen one bolt to remove the clamp and you can pull off the exhaust.

After snapping a bolt off in my turbo EVERY TIME removing my downpipe, I bought a vband. Haven't welded it in yet but if you don't warp it I don't see how it can be more trouble. I would much rather have to repair a bitched up vband bolt that maybe rusts freezes and snaps (simple as weld new stud on) then have to remove my turbo, drill out a broken bolt stud, then retap the threads. I'm pretty sure I already used helicoil so I'm not sure what I'll do this time.

Re: vband?

weld the ---- clamped down hard as hell, lotsa tacks and dont overdo the heat. i dont see a problem.

Re: vband?

its too late for that, my ---- was bolted together tight and the bolt even broke, fukin all warped and im dealing with leakasaurus, im trying to get my hands on a 3" vband gasket now, but i think all hope is lost

Re: vband?

so are there turbos that already have the v band flange on them, and dp's taht have the flage already on so you can just buy em an bolt em up, or do you have to always do your own welding?
