I have a turbocharger Garrett made in 1989, the VNT25. It's a variable turbine geometry (Variable Nozzle Turbocharger) version of the T25. I haven't tried it out yet so I can't give any input on how well it works.
Aerocharger makes uber weird turbos. The bearings are in the compressor housing, in the air intake neck and they're self lubricated (a compartment in the compressor housing stores the oil)

If I remember right, they did an Aerocharger on a Miata in Maximum Boost. There was a pretty decent write up about them in there too. The book is at home and I'm at work now, so I can't verify, I'm just going from memory.

Yes there was an aerocharger miata and an aerocharger NSX.
Aerocharger turbos are neat in the way that they don't need any external lubrication so you can locate them pretty much anywhere.

I saw a twin aerocharger kit on a NSX, both turbos fried after 40k miles. Personally I dont think I would ever use them unless it was on something small like a motorcycle or jetski. (where running oil lines would be difficult)
