Vacuum Line Question

Alright, I just hooked up my boost gauge, but it reads that I idle at like 11 hg whatevers. Isnt it supposed be at like 17 at idle? Oh, its a auto d16y8 by the way. The vac line i tapped for the gauge was for the cruise control, could that be causing the reading? It goes to like 1 hg in WOT and to 0 when the cars off.

tap it to your FPR

Re: Vacuum Line Question

Thanks, but that doesnt answer my question. Is cruise control a bad place to get vacuum from? And 11 hg is a bad idle vac reading right?

Re: Vacuum Line Question

i idle at 20-22. usually hit 24 at shifts.

im installing my turbo right now and for the time being i have my boost gauge t'd into my fpr line. my wastegate t'd into the big line from the im to the black denso thing on the fuel rail. and my bov is running all by itself on the cc nipple since i don't have cruise.

im hoping this will be ok for now. i'd like to get a vacuum manifold soon and run that off the brake booster line.

Re: Vacuum Line Question

I just checked mine off cruise well actually right off the mani where cruise goes and its 18mmHg. Same as the FPR line. You, my friend, have a leak.

Re: Vacuum Line Question

Make sure there isn't a chink in your chain. If there is a kink in your line you will have that issue and you will notice the gauge isn't nearly as responsive as if there were no kinks or leaks.
