vacuum advance dizzy and boost ???

well im going to turbo a 89 mazda 323 b6 sohc.
for fuel im going to use a fmu (i know everyone hates them,
but there is not much support for an old mazda, + im going to go as
cheap as possable with left over parts)

now to my ?
The dizzy on the b6 sohc has vacuum advance, well if you are
under boost that = no vacuum.
can anyone help me with this, or have any ideas?
thanks

B6 is same backbone as Miata's B6. They love the Megasquirt. Less wires than your stock ECU to hook up, and you can crank and drive off the packaged basemap.

Re: vacuum advance dizzy and boost ???

True HMT is doing whatever you have to for a quality solution. Shiny underhood parts are without fail useless as JB weld blobs everywhere work fine if you are smart about it, but how long your ---- holds together is where your HMT pride comes from. The '86 SE-i I had came with something stupid like 160cc injectors. It was a fine beater, I drove it to the crusher at 320K miles because I was sick of being seen in it and it wouldn't die, but you try to run and FMU on tiny ---- injectors like that and you'll just kill fuel pumps while making very little power before the whole works starves for fuel and goes tits up.

$330 for a pre-assembled and ready to go EMS is chump change, bubba. Your car will start up, idle, and the ignition map for the 1.6 and 1.8 B6 engines is known and will be flashed to the MS. You can adjust VE maps with a borrowed wideband with a lot of success... if cavemanning it, you can set part throttle VE mappings with stock O2 and then read plugs under boost.

were can you get a ms for 330 assembled and what version?
total understand the whole MS thing i have one on one of my escort gt. i don't really want to run much boost(around 6psi) on this car right now, its going to be a winter car anyway(im from WI).
maybe i will look into the ms, if the price is right, i have a wideband too.
thanks
also anyone else have other ideas besides going standalone.

Re: vacuum advance dizzy and boost ???

wouldn't boost be like the opposite and retard it as it's not seeing vacuum? I dunno...I'll just shut up cause I probably don't know what I'm talking about.

Re: vacuum advance dizzy and boost ???

you can install one way's, or just run it from the intake side of the turbo..

like how vac boosters on brakes have one ways, they keep boost from blowing them up

Re: vacuum advance dizzy and boost ???

both post above make good points.
if i just left it alone like the factory, i think it would go back to base timing under boost, seeing boost = no vacuum.
i would think the car would run like ass at base timing at 2k and above rpm,i don't no for sure. maybe some turbo carbed guys can chime in, seeing most older cars run a vaccum advance dizzy.
thanks

Re: vacuum advance dizzy and boost ???

I'll get to deal with this soon as my Z runs the same thing and my kit is being installed and should be running in a few weeks.
