search entire site even on google couldn't find the right answer.
some say that weld it shut and block it off with a flange.:confused:

got a t28 internal gated and since i need to rotate the turbo itself to face downwards, im going to remove it completely.because its holding back the rotation of the turbo, so im going to get a ext wastegate.

but heres the question:

so iam assuming that just get a blockoff flange and call it a day?

or weld the flapper shut?

or both?


any helps would be nice.:y

i welded my flapper shut but it was on a cheap chinese turbo. i wouldnt weld the flapper shut on a nice turbo because you will never be able to sell it. i would sell the t28 and purchase one without a wastegate. less hassle and more money in your pocket since the turbo wont be ir-reversable modified.

When you get the flange cut for the downpipe, you will only need a circular hole with a diameter to suit the turbine outlet, with a flat/plain part of the flange over the wastegate flap.

Drill & tap a hole over the wastegate flap, then put a bolt onto the flange , holding the WG shut.

Flange should look like this (but for a T25/28):

do u mean like this where i circle it? simply just drilling a hole where the wastegate is and put a hi tensile bolt in there?:confused:

thats a good idea. should work perfectly. drill and tap a hole in the downpipe flange. screw in a bolt and it will butt up against the wastegate flapper holding it closed...

Exactly!!

Don't forget to tap a tread into the hole for the bolt.

just 1 more question, can u guys tell me which 1 is the oil in/out let and water in/out let?
i circled it in the pic.

blue?
white?
green?
yellow?


been searching but found nothing as this turbo is different to other t28 appearance. and
by looking at it , im not 100% sure.

hard to tell from the pics. if you look in each one you will see the turbine shaft. theres four ports so you should see the turbine shaft in two of the four ports. those two ports where you see the turbine shaft is the oil feed and oil drain side of the turbo. the smaller of the two ports where you see the turbine shaft is the oil feed port and the other is the oil drain.

the coolant passeges you can tell by the large area inside the turbo. the coolant goes in one port and comes out the other so that should be easy to figure out.

this is what it looks like to me:

white= oil feed
yellow= oil drain
blue=coolant inlet
green=coolant outlet

thats exactly what i thought as well,

white= oil feed
yellow= oil drain
blue=coolant inlet
green=coolant outlet

because the drain will be a larger bolt. and feed will always be smaller.

but i try figure it out if not ill get sum better pics up.

ok saw the shaft when i took out the yellow circled plug.
and seem to be ur exactly correct about it.

now i clocked my turbo to face downwards according to intercooler piping, but
the oil feed is now on the side.
and my compressor cover doesn't have any bolts on it only the turbine side has bolts holding it. comp side only has a snap ring.

what i want to do is rotate the middle bit and bring the oil feed to the top.

so how do i do that? or i cant at all?
