Default Unbalanced Turbos?

I have a chance to pick up a T3 from a Ford Thundercoupe that was rebuilt (new seals...etc) but it wasn't balanced. Is this a major deal? My steering wheel shakes pretty bad when the tires on my car aren't balanced and they aren't moving as fast as a turbo would.

Who rebuilt it, any idea? I've heard you don't have to have the turbo balanced if your just putting new seals etc. in it, but if you change the bearings, thats when you need to balance it. Maybe someone else has some more info incase I'm wrong. I'd hate to have your turbo shake itself off your manifold

You guys are lucky ... in the states it's cheap to balance a turbo. Here they ask $120-170 to balance a turbo.....those **** thieves

When you rebuilt it make sure you mark the nut wheel and shaft so you put it back just the way you took it off.
That way you won't need to rebalance it

are you talking about at the ends of the turbine. Scribe a line across the nut and shaft. I dont want to mess this up when i rebuild.
