Your forum is going to be held responsible for making me spend thousands of dollars in the persuit of boost I can ------ see it now.
My kinda people. Just wanna put the blame on you guys and I'll be telling the g/f that as well..
I have been wanting to do a turbo project since the first time I heard a turbo spooling up sitting in the back seats of a GreyHound bus
hearing that sweet sweet sound...
I'm not going to ask all kinds of nooby questions or waste everyones time. But I would like your input on a base vehicle.
I want a fast truck. (or decently quick) I've got $1500 (CDN) for the thing which limits me to a few junkers to start off with
a 1989 F150
- 120K miles
- 5.0L V8 fuel injected has the mustang looking motor in it
- auto
- 175hp from what i could find out
a 1993 ford ranger
- 120K miles
- 2.3L lol... looks bagged.
- auto
- lots of rust
1994 chevy 1/2 ton
- 305 tbi
- auto
- 130K miles
- looks like ----
And a few other chevy 4.3L V6's and ford 3.9L w/inline six in varying conditions.
The trucks I listed the specs for don't seem in to bad a shape.
I'm not looking to blow the doors off joe schmoe's porsche 911.. but being able to put a few sunfire kiddies in their place
would be nice.
I was kinda leaning towards the F150 with the 5.0L... maybe a gt40 intake + injectors + throttle body + boost = win?
Anyone here have a full size truck turbo'd? I saw a movie while trolling with an older chevy looked kinda sweet.
Anyhow thanks for the input, and no i'm not buying a car. And no it won't be a 4x4... I've got my 5.2L Cherokee for that

Get a toyota truck with a 22re, I have a manifold, charge pipe, CT20 that needs a rebuilt, and the exhaust for $350 USD, I live 10 minutes from the BC border. Good luck

I would go with the 1989 F150.There is lots of used turbo stuff from Mustang guys around.Check out www.turbomustangs.com There is all the info needed on boosting a V8 and there is a GM section and a Blow through carb section as well.If you want a 4x4 go with the Toy that is just way to cool of a truck.
