Tyrus IC Effective Ability

When do these intercoolers really lose their cooling ability. What HP are they good to? I plan on building for 300hp in the next few months. So wondering if I should go with something else?

what are the dimensions? inlet diameter/outlet diameter, ect ect?

Sizes: Core: 30" wide X 5" tall X 2" deep End tanks are 5.5" tall X 3.25 deep 2.5" OD piping X 2.5" long This intercooler measures 33.75" from outside of end tank to outside of end tank

how effective and intercooler is depends on alt of things. the number and desing of fins inside the ntercooler core, the number of fins etc outside the core. the design of the endtank, the total presure drop. the pre entry angle and tempature.

there no easy way to say any intercooler wil support x HP. also each engine seems to vary in its efficency of the conversion of Airflow into total HP.

dont forget that routing the air to more effectively run over the intercooler will significantly improve its efficency along with ambint air temps changes. so there alot to think about. i find it useful to powder the intercooler core with marking chalk like that used in marking lines then drive the car. i like to note ere the air has and hasnt been. this will help you igure out how to make the most effective use of the intercooler you install. dont be surprised though if you find that to make the intercooler really effective you need to add small puller fas or rework the airway opening.

just thing to think about.

Damn, I saw sean88accord had replied to this thread and I knew there was going to be a good explanation. Good ---- Sean. 8)

Wow thats a great explanation. ;D And good idea about the chalk. Thanks for the reply!

would puller fans restrict airflow if they weren't strong enough?

I doubt it. but there are plenty of cheap high flow fans out there.
