Type S bov adjustment?

I have a type s bov (Duh :P )When I put it on and ran the car it seemd a bit loose so i tightened it up, but It sounds like I may have tightened it a little too much now. I loosened up the adjustment nut on top and rather then the valve rising up, it just stayed where it was and the nut just comes off and makes no difference. Do I need to remove it and open it up to adjust it?

adjusting it does nothing more than tighten or lossen the tension on the spring inside, it has no visible affects on the 'vavle' itself. unless you're running high boost, the only real difference you'll notice is the sound from adjusting it, but you are doing it correctly ;)

but the screw just come right off :o. there is no tension on the screw. as soon as i loosen it it just comes right off and the same amount of thread shows on the bolt? should't the top rise up if there is less tenion on the spring?Ive taken the nut completely off and it sounds and reacts the exact same

The nut is just a keeper nut to keep shaft from moving after adjustment.
The threaded shaft screws in or out to change spring pressure.
There should be a hex head on top of the threaded shaft. The instructions said to adjust the BOV so it doesnt "suck" air at an idle.

oh it opens but it just takes alot of pressure to open it. I want to adjust the spring to softer some.

What you should do is open it up and take out the smaller spring. There are two springs inside, this is what I did and it opens up perfect now.
